Acrylic Paint Skins

Since 2022, I have been experimenting with the properties of dried acrylic paint and the possible uses as a textile medium. Paint skins are created when paint is poured onto a surface like wax or palette paper.  It can then be peeled off and creates a skin-like material.  Adding silicone into the paint and torching the paint with butane when wet creates the intricate cells and patterns that you see in my work.  Once dried, the paint turns into a skin-like sheet that is flexible yet sturdy and allows piercing without tearing. I began combining the skins with my love of embroidery and fabric manipulation. I am currently experimenting with different ways to integrate the technique into couture fashion and fine art.
